HI,

is it possible to link aspecific e-mail adress to an identiy?

Background: I am self employed an have kontacts to some companys, where i want to use a different identity (e.g. an identity with a specific signature). So it would be nice, if i choose a e-mail adress from a Company and kmail would automatically change the identity to the linked one. In my opinion this feature would be interesting to some private correspondence too (e.g. for pgp-contacts)

Or is this feature allready there and i am to blind to find such?

Thanks for an Answer :-)

To recap, you want to handle things so that if you reply to a specific mail, you use one identity, and to another address you use a different one?

Not only reply. Even if i write a new message.

So if i write a message to a specific recipient, e.g. a special Company, the linked identity should be used. The main reason for me is, that i must add a signature to the mail while i am correspondending to Companys. If i write to private adresses, i don't need this signature.

Hope this will clarify my question.

edit: Somthing like an option "If you write an E-mail to adress foo@example.com, use identity 'myOwnCompany' ". Maybe it would be related to kaddressbook like "Identity to use with this adress: ....". Or to kmail-identities "Use this identity with e-mailadresses: .... ....".

Hm, I don't think this is possible yet. You may want to file a bug (wishlist) at bugs.kde.org. In alternative you could filter recipients in different folders and use a specific identity per folder (this is already possible).

Maybe you already knew this, but you can have an identity chooser in the composer window.
Just enable it in the menu (View->Identity).

This wouldn't set the identity automatically depending on the recipient of course, but it will allow you to easily change it while composing your message.

if i am the only one, who want this, such a wishlist would be not accepted, But i will see, maybe i make such a wishlist.

Ah, i could try this, thanks for the hint :-)

@wolfi323: Yes i know this and have it enabled. But i do have to remember this by writing an e-mail ;) An automatically switch of identities would be more convenient for me and my forgetfulness :-D

Given that KAddressbook already stores per-contact information (such as GPG settings for each contact, if one wants to override the default), I don't think it's too far off as an idea.
