Hello!
KDE 4.14 on Arch fully upgraded In the latest announcements I've read that there should be a working "search mail" now also better virtual folders. Encouraged by this news I've tried to search my mails. Now this hasn't worked at all - at least the way I tried - so, caused by completely lacking documentation for these supposed improvements I am writing here to find out how this works. Probably I am doing some things wrong... As I understand email indexing is done by baloo automatically, right? Now if I open "search mail" and add my search conditions I have the following problems: 1. "search only in" followed by one folder, unselecting searching in subfolders, and using only one criteria (e.g. "contains: 'greetings'") ==>> this always seem to completely ignore my folder selection, I get the search result from mayn folders and subfolders that I explicitely have deselected... 2. The search results do not show in the search results window - saying "found 342 messages" but in the list there is none shown... 3. Another problem is that most of the time the search doesn't finish (though only searching a subfolder containing less than 20 mails and only searching for example for "gmail" within the mailheader. I would really like to solve these issues, please tell me what I am missing, the use virtual folders would be a great improvement to organizing messages and should be working since 4.14, shouldn't it? thx for reading, piedro |

I am not sure about "virtual folders" but for me search works. I am using Kubuntu with updates to KDE 4.14
When I search I use "search for any" and get what I want. To be honest I am not counting to make sure if 200 or 300 are correct so long as I find what I am looking for. I did have problems with this after nepomuk-baloo change and was told of way to "baloo reindex" mails: Remove your baloorc file (typically in ~/.kde/share/config/baloorc), and then restart akonadi via akonadictl restart. kind regards, Sinclair |
