Hello!
KDE 4.14 on Arch I used the spam filter assistant to set up spamfiltering via bogofilter. Now looking into the filter protocol I get [...] apply filter action: mark as "spam" [...] apply filter action: execute command: "bogofilter -s" [...] execution of this action failed: there has been a problem [...] apply filter action: move to folder "local folder/Spam" Obviously neither local nor imap messages can be manipulated by bogofilter. I used the assistant, haven't changed any settings, haven't installed any additional filters or antispam measures on a new/fresh KDE on a new/fresh Arch linux installation. How can I get this to work? thx, piedro |

Can restart the PIM subsystem ("akonadictl restart") in a terminal and then see if there is any debug from the filter when it triggers?

It seems that sometimes the mail filter agent has to be restarted to work...
It just gets stuck, but this problem is known as a bug for some time, so I don't bother anymore, I just don't filter... thx, piedro |

I run Spambayes and CRM114 combined on Kubuntu 14.04 w KDE 4.14 with no problems - perhaps it is bogofilter that is the issue?

So thx for your comments. I tried to give bogofilter some time but even after three month of training marking spams and hams there is not a single mail filtered automatically...
About spambayes: Does the kmail spam filter assistant work with spambayes? I do not see the option here... thx for any help, piedro p.s.: Is there any tutorial on how to use spambayes with arch, I can't find any... |

BTW: If I use the spam filter assistant in Kmail to vreate the filters it still creates a filter for bogofilter though I explicitly unchecked the "bogofilter" from the spam software found... Is this a bug or is bogofilter needed for spambayes?
Is there any valid and comprehensive documentation on spam filtering with kmail? thx again, p. |

#sinclair:
Would you mind to write shortly how you use spambayes and CRM14 (what's this?) to filter mail with kmail? I installed spambayes set up the filter again and it has not autofiltered any single mail yet... I would really appreciate a short explanation how to do it. thx for any efforts, piedro |

Hi sorry for me taking forever to respond.
to make spambayes and / or crm114 work you install them. Being on Kubunt this is done from the repositories, on other distros I am not sure. Then I went through the KMail antispam wizard who will find them and marked both of them for use as spam filters. I tinkered with the filter rules as I use "non-standard" spam /possible spam folders. Then of course it takes a bit of training but now they rarely fail me |

Thx for your answer.
As it turns out the spam filtering assistant assumes that the program files for spambayes are located in the users directory which is certainly not the case in most installations. I had to edit the filters to use "/usr/bin/sb_filter.py" paths instead of "~/sb_filter.py"... Now it works. Lots of training but it works. On a side note: bogofilter really messes up in my case. It seems to remove the mail body of many html mails when adding the bogofilter flag to the mail header... resulting in massive data loss... I am happy I had some older backups tough still some mails are lost ... thx again, piedro |

hi, that with the path for spambayes just has to be an Arch thing. On Kubuntu it "just works", as I said I tinker a bit with the filters as I combine to spamfilters and do not use "standard" spamfolders but the installation in itself is totally straightforward. I have not tried Bogofilters for years but was never happy with it.
