I have been having issues with KMial the past few weeks. It will start out working fine, but usually at some point I will start having this issue:

1. I turn my PC on. I can see all my mail in all my accounts. I move around between a few networks. At some point, I will no longer be able to see e-mail from my Gmail account. Whenever I click on an e-mail from my gmail, I will get KMail's loading screen with a "Please wait..." that never goes into the e-mail.

2. If I kill KMail and restart, I will be able to see e-mail from my other two accounts, but if I click on GMail I will get the loading screen.

3. At this point, whenever I click on GMail the rest of my accounts will also only offer a loading screen, so I am no longer able to see any of my e-mails.

4. Sometimes killing KMail and restarting while avoiding GMail will work, but sometimes nothing short of rebooting will help.

I have removed and re-added my g-mail account. I am not sure what the issue is or how to debug. Help? Thanks!

Let's try to diagnose this a bit:

- Open a terminal
- Close KMail
- In the terminal, type "akonadictl restart"
- Restart KMail

Operate normally, but check the terminal output when the issue occurs, and see if you spot anything strange. In case you want to provide the output here, put it on a pastebin service like paste.kde.org or pastebin.com and provide the link here (do not post the log directly, if possible, as it'll be long).

It happened again and this time akonadictl restart seemed to fix the issue. Here is kmail on pastebin: http://pastebin.com/5rzPTscn

For the akonadictl log, it contains some search information as well as some numbers and I don't know what they mean. Could it contain sensitive info (beyond the search info, I mean)? If there shouldn't be anything sensitive beyond names then I'll post that as well.

Thanks!

No sensitive information is in this log. However it's not clear why it's not working. Let's try to increase the verbosity a little: open "kdebugdialog", untick "Disable all debug output", Click "Unselect All", then type "Imap" in the search box. A few candidates will pop up, tick them and click OK. Then do the "akonadictl restart" again.

If not even this helps in finding the cause, I'll ask some developer to look at this here.

Here are the kmail and akonadictl logs. The akonadi log is incomplete since I ran it from the konsole. Sorry about that. Anyway, in debugging this I've realized that runnning `akonadictl restart` after quitting kmail will fix the issue, so at least I know the proper way of restarting kmail when this happens (thanks for that).
