Hi
I was searching this afternoon for some motorracing series for an icalc calendar for 2015. Mainly for Formula 1, WTCC, BTCC and DTM. With the exception of a couple very old calendars in KDE-Art Sources (?) I did not find anything.
So, I decided to start my own calendar and will it of course share with whoever is interested in these data.

But how do I find an empty template, where I can put in all my information? I have opend another ics-calendar with Kate. Some of the content I can understand, some absolutely not. So, if there is a template, like a WYSIWYG -Template in website design it would be great.

Is it clear, what I am looking for? Else, just ask.

Thanks a lot for any help.

a thought or 2 - why not use Google calendar and share that? or create it in Google and then export it (ie use Google calendar as your template)

By template, what do you mean exactly? A basic .ics file, or something already pre-filled (and what would the contents be, in this case?)?

Thanks for replies.
a) Goggle and I are a no go. At least not since Goggle has left serving the surfers and become on of the worlds biggest supplier of the big state Spy agenceis and at the same time one of the world richest richest concerns. Goggle had its good times, even strongly supporting OpenSource, but their momentanous strategy to usurp company after company ist really too dangerous for our freedom. Or do you all want besides Apple and Microsoft a third IT mammouth?

b) What I would like is a basic .ics file, which I can import into KOrganiser, completely empty bar the necessery commands to run a calendar. Then I can type all the probably about 60 entries in.

You can just create a new local calendar in KOrganizer. Its default storage format should be an ICS file.

I did try that, it was actually my first idea. However, I can not find a possibility to do this. Even checking all possible Icons in the Toolbar, I can not find a way.
Would you mind, directing me to the appropriate place, possibly with a screenie?

So, Yeah, I found it. Thanks

After a bit of trial and error, I have now my new calendar. However, I had to load an older one of mine, so I choose the one with the least entries. Then I copied it and gave it a new filename, here «motorsport_2015.ics».
Then I boldly deleted all entries as Root starting with BEGIN:VEVENT to END.VEVENT. After this, I entered two imaginary events ust to check and they are here.

I now have only one minor question:
Do I need all those lines from Line 9 to and including Line 183. I do not think, these lines are very useful for such calendars. I have created a zip-file so you can open the file with Kate. However, I do not find the way to attach this zip.

Post it without zipping on a pastebin service like pastebin.com or paste.kde.org, then write the link here: that would be the best way to do so.

Bear in mind that some of the lines that appear useless are actually needed to support fully the ICS specification, though.

I really don't know anything about this but your post confuses me:
- why did you need to delete entries as Root?
- I have no idea what lines 9 to 183 are and don't think anyone else will
- why do you want to open a zipped .ics file with Kate? Kate can't read zipped files (unless un-zipped)
- attach the zip file to what? an email? Korganizer? if Korganizer then you would File -> Import -> Import Calendar with the unzipped .ics file UPDATE: maybe use File -> Open, though not sure the difference (might be temp vs permanent)

update: you can also open the .ics file instead of importing into Korganizer

Hi and thanks.
Can someone please explain how to work with the past.kde.org? Especially, which identity I need to enter. I do have my problems to understand the way kde.e.v. handles these various identities.

I am aware that probably a few of these 200 lines are needed, but certainly not all. And for this calendar I need only a very few info: Name line: country, circuit second line serie then the start date and the end date. As motor races change venues and dates form year to year too much, I can not even use the repeat function.
Here an exemple what I use
Italy, Monza
F1
24/09/2015 26/09/2015

Nothing with Summertime or who is involved or whom i have to send an email or anything this mighty program can do.

if you only need your text saved for < 1 year it appears no password is needed, I would guess its the same password you use for this forum. fyi you can use any paste site such as pastebin.com if its more familiar

I managed to produce the ical motorsport calendar for 2015 for Formula 1, British touring Car Championship, World Touring Car Championship and German Touringcar Masters.

I would no like to add it to the ressources (other calendars for downloading) somewhere on the KDE imperium. How would that work?

Create an account on kde-files.org and place it in the Korganizer Calendars section

Here is the link for the calendar. I have used the recommended paste.kde.org

https://paste.kde.org/pqcdnu34e/ftnyh0

I hope it works.

If not, the calendar is now also on the website KDE-Files. org under the category KOrganiser Calendars.
Does ever anybody check all the calendars hanging about there? Most of them are uselessly outdated and should really be taken off. Such stoneage ressources are not really helpful.
