HI!
The "remove duplicates function for folders does only find exact copies. Most duplicates are not exact copies, they might have a different spam status flag or a second difference in the time stamp - so this function as is doesn't do much... WHere are the config parameters for that function and how can I modify to only compare the mailbody or ignore all flags and so forth? thx for your help, piedro |

I don't think it's possible to change how it operates, you may want to file a wishlist request on bugs.kde.org.

For anyone who is wondering how to remove duplicates reliably, here is my workaround:
- Import the mails in question in thunderbird (as .eml files) into a local folder (you need the "import/export tools" add-on to do that and you have to find the physical locaton of the files on your disk... - also it seems you can only use 15000 mails per import so plan ahead with different folders if you have more... ) - install one of the two working add-ons for removing duplicates in thunderbird (I recommend the "alternate" one - it has much more options and is more transparent in my experience...) - remove whatever you like to remove (I only remove same ID and timestamp duplicates but that is very much configurable...) - either export the mails from your cleaned folder as .eml files to either a transitional folder to reimport into kmail or just export the files directly into the physical location of a local kmail folder on your harddisk (kmail should recognize them and they show up in kmail automagically... I also copied them them to another local folder in kmail to make sure the file names are created in a kmail fashion and deleted the automagic folder though I do not think this is really necessary - I just wanted to make sure there are no inconsistencies that could potentially cause future kmail problems...) That's it. Not pretty but it works. thx for any help along the way, cheers, piedro |
