Hello,

From the Kmail Handbook

Activity by Date, Threaded
This view uses day-by-day groups. Messages are threaded. So for example, in “Today” you will find all the messages arrived today and all the threads.

Current Activity, Threaded
This view uses smart date range groups. Messages are threaded. So for example, in “Today” you will find all the messages arrived today and all the threads that have been active today.

The point of difference between these two is that Current Activity will show "all the threads that have been active today" in "Today". The only activity an email thread can see is new email arrival, in that case they all fall back to definition of "Activity by Date" which is "all the messages arrived today and all the threads." So. What is the difference between these two?

Thanks.

I asked one of the PIM developers, and the difference is that "by date" uses exact dates ("2014-01-01") while the "current activity" uses ranges that are so-called "smart" ("today", "yesterday", "last week"). Does that clear up confusion for you?

Thanks. That was very helpful.
