I can setup the connection to the Synology CardDAV server (it finds the addressbook), but for some time now the synchronzation (also manually) doesn't work anymore.
I tried to set it up again. The addressbook stays empty. I've tried both with http and https. It used to work once. I'm not getting any error I can see. Kontact version: 4.14.2 Any help? Or is this a known bug? |

Did you see any errors in the terminal, or not even there?

I started kontact now from the command line and tried to synchronize the CardDAV again.

So there are some issues with:
Is any of this related to issue I'm having with CardDAV? |

Open "kdebugdialog" and look for items (use the search line) that have "dav" in it. Ensure they are ticked and click OK (you may have to uncheck "disable all debug output" first). Then in a terminal issue "akonadictl restart" and see if there are any errors related to DAV once the initialization is complete.

There are items with "dav" in the list!?
I unchecked the "disable all debug output" checkbox and ran kontact again. This is the output:

The output of lsb_release -a:
I wonder if a newer version of Kontact than 4.14.2 can safely be used with trusty. Maybe there's a related bug, which has been fixed? |

You may want to try so if you can. Please report back with the results.
