I had address book on ubuntu 12.04 LTS until I lost mobo. Removed HDD & mounted on ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I can see user files in file manager but I can't find address book. Anyone know how to find it or what to look for?

Just to make sure, you want to know where your addressbook was stored on the local disk?

as contacts are managed by the Akonadi framework you should import the file when found instead of copying it I believe
look for a .vcf file in ~/.local/share/contacts/ |

I did not see any .vcf file -/local/share/contacts when I opened the drive. If it is there, how do I search for it in the terminal?

what about ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/ ?
output: file or directory not found Does this mean the address book is not on the drive? |

only means I don't know where it is kept - try asking on the #kontact chat room on irc |

not so fast - seems that neither app is installed per the "command not found" messages
kfind is a gui app it should open a window, find is a command line app that would tell you "no such file or directory" as you called it you need to add arguments - best to use kfind find is in the findutils pkg |
