Sorry I don't know about Kubuntu but the sources for kde applications-15.08.3 are available so I think it will be for Kubuntu very soon.

workaround: go to a local non-imap folder and then start a new email.

I expect them to be quick with this since kmail already is at 5.0.2 |

thanks for the hint. Tried it, without any success, though. Currently I use Thunderbird. Next week I'll be on a conference. Maybe I'll find some time to compile the applications from source. Cheers HedwigKDE |

This is a known bug, and should be fixed in the recently-released 15.08.3 version. A snippet from the conversation I had on IRC with the developer:
<montel> they need 15.08.3 it was a crash when language changed. So indeed it will crash until they use 15.08.3 Can you try with 15.08.3 and see if the issue persists?

Came across this today, is there any news on when 15.08.3 is going to be released?

It seems that we won't get the binaries of 15.08.03.
Recently I saw the announcement of 15.12.xx and tried to compile the sources. Unfortunately I didn't succeed as that release has dependencies that will only be resolved by (K)Ubuntu 16.04. So I had the choice to recompile virtually everything from scratch or update to (not yet ready) Ubuntu 16.04. For the release 15.08.03 I didn't even find source packages nor instructions on how to compile them for Ubuntu 15.10. In the meanwhile I use thunderbird and also consider to switch to lxqt or something else. |

I have followed the instructions on http://scarlettgatelyclark.com/2015/kub ... r-testing/ done sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/staging-kdeapplications to install that PPA. I am now running 15.08.03 and can write emails again. |

@mfraser thanks for the hint. I'm surprised that this is still in the staging repository. As I didn't dare to give staging a try I missed them.

i solved that problem by installing the required hspell because this text "can't open /usr/share/hspell/hebrew.wgz.sizes" was shown in the terminal when starting the kmail program from there.
sudo apt-get install hspell |
