The translate feature of Kmail2 used to work but now it doesn't. I've had this problem before: it worked and then it stopped until a fresh install. I'm running Kubuntu 15.10 with both updates and backports, so currently Plasma 5.5.3 and kmail2 5.0.2. Any way to fix this, since I find the feature VERY useful, living in a country whose native language I don't speak!

I think KMail's translation feature depends on a third party service which might have changed the way it's accessed. I'll investigate.

Unfortunately this is unfixable as Google removed means of accessing its translation service (unless one pays up). The feature has been removed altogether for the next major version of KMail due to this.

Well, are there alternatives to Google Translate that can be used? How about Bing Translate, or Linguee, or Babylon or....? This was a killer feature of Kmail!

You may want to file a bug with an alternative proposal if possible.

Currently the translate function has been disabled (this will happen in the next point release) while better alternatives are being researched.

Apparently the developers found a way to use the Google Translate API again, so I'm happy to report that support will be back with the next stable release (15.12.3).
