Hello,
Using Kmail 4.14.10 on KDE platform 4.14.18 on Fedora 23. Certain emails are displayed as received on the wrong or unknown date. An email received in 2014 displays as received in 2005 (which is before the email account was created), and 7 other emails received over various years shown as Unknown at the bottom of the email list. All emails display correctly in the web client of the provider (Yahoo). That makes me think that there is nothing wrong with the emails themselves since the email provider could figure out the date of the email. Or at least that Kmail algorithm could be improved. It also introduces some uncertainty about how many other emails are categorised under the wrong year. I could spot these because they display separately at the bottom of the list (Unknown and 2005 which is before the account was created and therefore before all other years). But in a list with several thousands of emails in the course of 8 years, there could be hundreds of other emails listed on the wrong years/months. Is this a known bug? I couldn't find anything. Also, without knowing how Kmail internally works and how it stores emails, is this only an indexing issue or does it affect storing the emails themselves? For example, if there is a bug and it is fixed in the future, and I re-index all emails in that folder, the emails will then be properly displayed under the correct date? |

It looks like there is a bug report about the unknown date issue since 2012 (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=290787). It is probably related to the wrong date issue as well.
