Hello. For a long time I have noticed that if use akonadi, the startup time is markedly increased. I read a lot about this problem, but working solution I haven't found. Is there a way to use akonadi without effect a slow start?

What version of Plasma, and what distribution are you using? Akonadi starts only if something requires its presence (it is loaded on-demand) so perhaps there's something in the startup that makes it start.

Yes, i use kmail which is loaded automatically at startup. Plasma 5. |

I suspect this is caused by the Korganizer Reminder Daemon (which brings up reminder events) as well.

I renamed it to /etc/xdg/autostart/org.kde.korac.desktop.old. Startup speed has improved slightly, but I still get the black screen in plashashell for some time after startup. A file list in /etc/xdg/autostart http://pastebin.com/knHYnWQR |

There might be other non-PIM factors weighing in, such as file indexing.

I turned off baloo, but it didn't help. The problem with akonadi I discovered a long time ago. If don't use kmail and turn off akonadi the problem disappears.

Does this occur if you don't use session saving?

Yes, if disable session saving and remove kmail from autostart list, loading KDE occurs instantly. I think that the blame akonadi, since kmail uses akonadi.

Then it's "working as advertised" as applications are restored early in the session. KMail starts, and it requires Akonadi to work properly, so Akonadi starts up as well. Then basically both KMail and Plasma are running and both require some disk access during startup, therefore causing this delay.
