PIM restore accounts

Tue Aug 23, 2016 3:28 pm
Hello. So I needed to reinstall my notebook so I made a complete backup of Kmail using KDE PIM.

When I tried to restore data back, I found it awful to identify which account is which. I have several accounts.

How am I supposed to know if akonadi_imap_resource_0rc or akonadi_imap_resource_3rc or ... is the correct account when I am asked destination folder?

Is there a way I can know where to assign each folder when I am asked to?

I've been doing some research over the web and found out that it's really complex to delete all kmail2 folders and there's always some remain that struggles with a fresh install leading to duplicate mails accounts, etc., so I've decided to try another email client whose directories are easier to handle. As for now, I will try claws. I'll miss integration, the complete easy-going front-end, but well, maybe some changes should have never been done.

Regards.

The easiest way to do that would have probably been using KMail's own export data, which would have made an archive of accounts and identities.
