I love Kontact but it has had fits and starts with various email clients.

I have previously been able to receive and send using the college's e-mail on Kmail.

But, because of the fits and starts with the college email, it is IMAP, I have been using the college's portal for the last few years.

But, since I'm using KDE Neon a lot this last couple of months I thought that I would try setting up Kmail with the college.

Receiving works fine.

However, sending would not set up and there was always a message about the portal or password type.

I contacted the college and was specifically told to use a different portal number for sending AND....

to use STARTTLS.

There is no option for STARTTLS in Kmail sending.

So, just asking for comments as to when / if STARTTLS will be in Kmail send.

STARTTLS is properly supported in KMai, for tboth sending and receiving (my mail wouldn't work without it l. Please check if your sending account configuration ("Advanced" tab) looks like this



Notice the "TLS" option selected. This will allow STARTTLS to be used. If this still fails, please provide the actual error message you have.

Yes, it exactly like that; it does NOT have "STARTTLS"

I have tried all variations of normal portal numbers for IMAP and the security options and none of them worked.

The administrators at the college said that I SPECIFICALLY have to have "STARTTLS" and also provided a different portal number.

It seems to me that STARTTLS was previously as an option a year or so ago.

If there is a situation to where it cannot be provided that is fine, I'm not complaining, I was just wondering and commenting about what my, particular, college wants.

Ho provato tutte le varianti di normali numeri portale per IMAP e le opzioni di sicurezza e nessuno di loro ha lavorato .

Gli amministratori del College ha detto che io in particolare avere " STARTTLS " e anche fornito una serie portale diverso .

Mi sembra che in precedenza era STARTTLS come opzione di un anno fa .

Se c'è una situazione per cui non può essere previsto che va bene , non mi lamento , mi stavo chiedendo e commentando su ciò che il mio , particolare , università vuole .

Looks like a packaging error, what distribution are you using? I see the option even on my machines which run stable versions of KDE Applications.

It is Stock KDE Neon Developer edition, Ubuntu/Debian based with KDE.
