for me this didn't help (lubuntu 17.04)
but I found this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/+bug/1698632

this solved my issue :
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install apparmor-utils
sudo aa-complain usr.sbin.mysqld-akonadi

Hi, I have a similar (if not the same) problem on OpenSuse 15.0: KOrganizer does not start because it does not find akonadi.
luciano@AMDRyzenLP:~> akonadictl start
Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)
luciano@AMDRyzenLP:~> org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Failed to detect mysqld version!
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: database server stopped unexpectedly
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Database process exited unexpectedly during initial connection!
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: executable: "/usr/sbin/mysqld"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: arguments: ("--defaults-file=/home/luciano/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf", onadi-luciano.VJ0Lg7/mysql.socket", "--pid-file=/tmp/akonadi-luciano.VJ0Lg7/mysql.pid")
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: stdout: ""
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: stderr: ""
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: exit code: 0
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: process error: "Unknown error"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Failed to remove runtime connection config file
org.kde.pim.akonadicontrol: Application 'akonadiserver' exited normally...

YAST says that apparmor-utils is installed
the directory var/lib/mysql-files is there
Any hint? thanks

Not working for me either:

running:
Code: Select all
akonadictl start

Shows:
Code: Select all
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Starting up the Akonadi Server...
mysqld-akonadi: [ERROR] Could not open required defaults file: /home/nicholas/
mysqld-akonadi: [ERROR] Fatal error in defaults handling. Program aborted!
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: database server stopped unexpectedly
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Database process exited unexpectedly during initial connection!
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: executable: "/usr/sbin/mysqld-akonadi"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: arguments: ("--defaults-file=/home/nicholas/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf", "--datadir=/home/nicholas/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/", "--socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket", "--pid-file=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.pid")
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: stdout: ""
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: stderr: "mysqld-akonadi: [ERROR] Could not open required defaults file: /home/nicholas/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf\nmysqld-akonadi: [ERROR] Fatal error in defaults handling. Program aborted!\n"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: exit code: 1
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: process error: "Unknown error"
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket' exists!
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Failed to remove runtime connection config file
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Shutting down AkonadiServer...
org.kde.pim.akonadicontrol: Application '/usr/bin/akonadiserver' exited normally...

The file /home/nicholas/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf does exist though, KDE Neon all up-to-date
