KMail: don't see the IMAP folders

Sun Nov 27, 2016 8:30 am
New user of KMail here with KUbuntu 16.10.

I can send email without problem, I don't see the incoming mails. I have linked my iCloud account successfully in KMail. (In the settings of the IMAP account, Advanced I can see all my 'folders' in the Server side subscription. There I selected the INBOX en Send Messages folders.)

In the folder list I don't see any of the IMAP Folders. Can't choose it in my 'Identiy' | Advanced tab neither as a folder for Send Mail folder. Also not showing in the main view on the left, there only Local Folders are visible.

Any idea what can be missing? No connection errors, are resolves, but I can't see any of my IMAP folders nor incomming emails. A bit lost.

Regards,
Merg

Can you check whether "Local subscriptions" have removed some of your folders from being seen?

Hi, nothing is limited in the Local subscription option. Only the local folders are in there.

From your screen, it looks like *all* folders *but* INBOX are *unsubscribed*. Did you try checking them? Does the display change if so?

Hi, at first I had all selected. Limited that to a few since I thought that went faster perhaps (to sync). No difference.

Another question: if you open "akonadiconsole" and switch to the "Browser" tab, do you see the folders under your account?

Hi, no, only the local ones. See the attached screenshot.

Is the account in the Accounts configuration properly reporting being working ("Connection established" and so on)?

Hi,

When you open the accounts it has no status listed.

Pressing restart shows it being ready.

Hi, found the problem. Some of the IMAP folders had square brackets in there name (e.g. [Airmail]). Ones these where removed, everything resolved fine.

Thanks for your continued and patient support in this!

You may still want to report a bug on bugs.kde.org, as "weird" names in the folders should not break syncing.
