Kmail was working absolutely fine yesterday. I shut down my PC at the end of the day as usual, booted up this morning, launched Kontact and Kmail has decided to resync my entire inbox. It's more than 10,000 messages so it's taking a long time (30 minutes and 67% complete so far) and using all my bandwidth. Very annoying!
Any ideas why this is happening? Also, I don't know if it's relevant but since the update to 16.12.0 I can no longer launch akonadiconsole from Krunner; in fact it doesn't even seem to be installed - I'm on openSUSE Tumbleweed (rolling release). |

akonadiconsole has been split up from the rest of PIM, install the "akonadiconsole" package to get it back. Did you update between shutting things down and before starting KMail again?

No, I hadn't updated anything in the interim. It doesn't matter now I suppose; the resync finally completed and all is back to normal. I'd like to know why it happened though, if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks for the reply einar. |

It may have occurred if you changed server address or username. The next major version will warn you in such a case.

It wasn't either of those, but thanks for the idea. |

Was the resync a one-time affair, or is it happening again?

Yeah, it was very annoying at the time but it hasn't happened since. Oh well. Gremlins in the machine I guess.

I actually have this happen with KMail every once in a while, sometimes even two days in a row, although it hasn't done it for a month or two lately. I have a very large GMail IMAP based account, and it does take a very long time to re-sync. |
