Hi,
after a fresh install of Mint 18.1 kde (Plasma 5.8.5) I noticed that my emails in kmail are not indexed. I did a google search and I found out that the following packages have not been installed: libaloopim4 libakonadisearchpim Yesterday I installed these packages and after a while the indexing process started. The Database files have been stored here: .local/share/akonadi/search_db/email I ended up with all my mails indexed. Doing a search with Alt+F2 shows me the subject of the mails - a full search for the mail content was not possible (no resuits). After I have started my PC today and fired up KMail I noticed that (folder properties - maintenance) that no mails are indexed. Alt+F2 gives me no results for searching on mail subject. I restarted baloo with balooctl disable and then balooctl enable (after changing first run to true) and it started to index my emails. But this time the Database files are stored here: /.local/share/baloo/email/ with exactly the same structure but different size. At the moment it seems that indexing stopped again with only a few mails indexed. Beneath that the search (foldersearch) in Kmail gives me no results in every search. Quick search on one folder is working fine. Now I am a little bit confused if I really need both packages: libaloopim4 libakonadisearchpim Maybe someone with a working indexing/search can have a look if these packages have to be installed. If its important: I use Pop3 mail accounts - not Imap. local folder is pointed to : .local/share/local-mail/ which ends up in storing mails and folders in: .local/share/.local-mail.directory/ It would be great if someone can help me here. Can you post the version of KMail you are using?

Hi.
it is Version 5.2.3. With the plugins mentioned above indexing and the search with the 'S' key works fine. Unfortunately it is kind of strange: KMails always stores the search made with the S key as 'Latest search' which is normally a good idea. The problem is, that every search made after uses the the search criteria from that stored search. If I delete the stored search, I can do a search with other criteria. My idea of a workaround: Disable storing of a search made with the S key. But i do not find an option for it in the preferences. BTW: The problem occurs on a Linux Mint KDE 18.1 and on an Kubuntu 16.10 installation. Cheers Ralf |

You can rename the search to something else and it will not get overwritten (it'll also stay "live", meaning that if you download new messages that satisfy the criteria, it will get updated).
