Thanks for your help1
In interpret this as the question for a files called "mysql-xxxxx" in the directory /var/lib. There are not such files. In /var/lib/ there are only folders. mysql-xxxxx files are in /var/lib/dpkg/info/ What can I do next? |

No, I meant a directory called "mysql-files". If it doesn't exist, try creating it.

A@einar,
Thank you so much for your help. The missing directory "mysql-files" in /var/lib/ was the solution. So far all of Kontacts is working. I will now study and test it. Most important test will be to sync addresses, calendar, tasks and notes with an Android phone. Ideally syncing is done via cable, bluetooth or WiFi,. alternatively via my ownCloud running on a defined server. Should you have any advice, hint or comment about my ideas, especially about a sync client, I would be very happy! |

You can try syncing with different means. Using ownCloud to provide CardDAV and CaldDAV contacts, you could be able to sync them to Kontact, your phone, and vice versa (I don't use ownCloud, but i have a very similar setup here).
Card/CalDAV sync isn't default in Android, but there are some good FOSS options around (like DavDroid in the F-Droid store).

@einar
Thanks also for your information about syncing with an Android smartphone. I will see what I can sync and how it will work. Maybe I am too old, but I am coming from the Palm times. With a Palm I could sync: Addresses, Calendar, Tasks, and Notes. This could be done with a simple cable connection. Nowadays cable could be replaced by BlueTooth or WiFi. It would be great if KDE could develop a sync SW and a related app for Android phones. I am pretty sure that many business people would love that. Where at KDE could this idea proposed? Also I am still a just born newbie, I like it since my brother explained me the basic ideas of KDE with the activities. I have currently nine and No 10 will come up soon. Again thanks for your help. |
