Hello,

I've been using KMail with Yahoo for years without (major) problem, but now it looks like it doesn't work anymore.

A few days ago, my incoming (IMAP) Yahoo account simply stopped working, throwing the message:
Code: Select all
A000002 NO AUTHENTICATE Invalid credentials [ AUTHENTICATIONFAILED  ]

My password didn't change, and I can open the webmail without problem using it. Sending messages (SMTP) works (and the password is the same). Receiving messages from my other accounts works.

I tried creating a second IMAP account with the same settings, and got the same error.

So, I wonder: is anyone experiencing the same issue? What can I try to fix it?

Louis

PS: I'm on Kde Neon user edition, so I'm using KMail 5.5.3.

I'd recommend trying out this here

https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15241.html

app specific passwords seem to be a necessity these days. Had some trouble setting up icloud IMAP account too.

Thanks GodsDog.

I explicitly enabled the "less secure authentication" in Yahoo's settings.
I forgot to mention that getting my Emails from my Android device (using IMAP, the same password and K-9 mail) works perfectly well. The problem is likely on my side.

This problem is now resolved. I disabled automatic email checking, and a few hours later everything came back to normal.

Thanks again for your support GodsDog.
