Hi all. I have never used KNotes before (well, that I remember anyway). But after I stuffed up my perfectly good Mageia #5.1 system I had to re-install Mageia #5.1. I do this by preserving my /home and/var and NOT formatting them when re-installing Mageia to "/" so as I will have all of my previous data available to me.
Anyway, I needed to keep track of things I needed to do/re-install on the re-installed #5.1 system - so I thought I'd use KNotes so I could have a sticky note on my screen with the tasks I needed to do. Well that didn't work very well. When I launch KNotes, an icon appears in the notification panel. Then I R-click on that and select "new note". A dialog window appears, inviting me to choose the file where to store the notes. In Magea #5.1 it showed dialog box with a search field and then (usually) 3 Notes locations listed underneath (I can't locate that screen dump) Anyway, in my installed Mageia #6, I start KNotes and do the same and get a dialog box with the search field but NO Notes folders listed. But the "ok" button is not active only the "cancel" button is clickable. I can't do anything. If, as previously stated, there are the 3 Notes locations listed - it doesn't matter what Notes folder definition I select I get the same message: "Note not created"and just have to click OK. Just to clarify this - this only occurs using my previous /home drive! If I install Mageia #5.1 or #6 in Virtualbox (or, as I did, installing Mageia #6 on a separate partition) which, of course, has no legacy data contained in it, just a stock standard /home drive, KNotes will create a note correctly when I choose a Notes folder in the dialog box that appears when I select "new note". So it seems as though there is something, somewhere in my /home drive that is causing this problem but I don't know what. As I said - to my knowledge - I haven't ever used KNotes. If tried to upload 2 screen images but kept getting error message in the preview saying that "the image size could not be determined" or something like that so I have no idea how to upload them so that they do. Any help/guidance greatly appreciated on the KNotes (or screen dump uploading) issues. |

Fellow sufferer here. I had an issue that got resolved here (viewtopic.php?f=215&t=141828) that you might look at, though I don't think it addresses your issue directly, you should check all the version numbers of the akonadi-related files. What I would suggest is closing knotes and deleting or just renaming two files:
Those files will be recreated on opening Knotes. And then restarting knotes. You should be queried for a place to store notes. That place will default to "Local_Notes" under Collections, if I'm not mistaken. You should also check the Accounts tab. There should be an account listed there, if not create one. That account should be associated with a Maildir folder. If you don't have a Maildir folder, create one. It's easy:
That's all it takes. I hope you get this sorted out. |
