This doesn't tell anything though, it's normal.
Indeed, and this doesn't look good. The 4.14.10 packages are irrelvant (they are from KDE4). But the rest "randomly" mixes 16.08.3 and 16.12.3. But an API stability is explicitly *not* guaranteed for KDEPIM's libraries currently, i.e. it is explicitly unsupported (and disrecommended) to mix versions like this. I don't know enough about Mageia though to help you there, or to be able to tell whether this is on purpose or an installation "error". At least you should check whether your system is fully up-to-date or whether there are updates pending... Please also note that I am not completely sure this is the reason for your problems, but at least that one error message (about the symbol lookup error) definitely points in that direction. (and actually, if I read it correctly, that symbol lookup error does cause akonadiserver to crash) |

PS: one possible reason for this "version messup" (at least in parts) might be that kdepim has been further split up in 16.12.
In particular, kdepim-core doesn't exist any more, but you still have 16.08.3 installed. (I cannot tell whether this is a problem of your distribution or a user error, ideally such packages should get removed automatically I suppose) So, I would try to uninstall all these packages in version 16.08.3 and see what happens. Or update them to 16.12.3 where possible (one old package might have prevented other packages from being updated). But as I said I have no experience with Mageia or their package management, so I'm unable to provide further help with that. |

I keep my system up to date. Despite this, I uninstalled these
akonadi-kde akonadi-mime akonadi-search akonadiconsole lib64kf5akonadisearchcore5 lib64kf5akonadisearchxapian5 Out of curiosity, I looked up and installed the same packages in version 16.12.3, and bingo! We have a winner. I'm not entirely sure what happened, but the versions of those packages I had installed were not current. The fact that akonadi itself was an old version is really puzzling. At any rate, it's running now. I want to thank you for sticking with me through all this. I couldn't have begun to sort this out without your help. May all your children be self cleaning. Mark |
