Over the past week KMail has become unusable for me and I wondered if anyone could help?

I use Kubuntu 18 Bionic fully updated.

KMail generally very stable but I suspect some updates have caused an issue. I also use Thunderbird for he same tasks and it is working perfectly.

I have two mail accounts in KMail, one personal IMAP account and an exchange account (NHS Mail) running through the "DAVMAIL gateway" This too has always worked well.

The symptoms are repeatable, open KMail, start browsing through new (or old) mail and, with a very short time the application crashes and I get offered an opportunity to submit a bug report. I have submitted this report but received a very impatient and accusational response from someone telling me I had submitted an incorrect file? I explained to this person that all I did was follow the instructions on the bug report app and click send I heard no more.

So, here I still am with no KMail which I use a lot. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong or instruct me as to how to provide you the eveidence required to make a diagnosis?
