Hello everyone,

I'm having a bit of trouble setting-up my email accounts with KMail. I am using openSUSE Leap 15.0 Plasma desktop and I have added IMAP accounts to KMail in the past with few problems. However this time around, whenever I start KMail it throws me the following error in a dialogue box:

«The Email program encountered a fatal error and will terminate now.
The error was:
Could not create collection trash, resourceId: 2»

It keeps crashing everytime I try to start KMail. I tried to create a clean akonadi start by doing the following steps:
1)
Code: Select all
akonadictl stop

2) Deleted the folders:
Code: Select all
~/.local/share/akonadi
~/.config/akonadi

3)
Code: Select all
akonadictl start

Then I could start the KMail and add the IMAP accounts back again. However, when restarting KMail, it crashed again with the same error.
Another detail: when I checked the folder ~/.local/share I noticed the directory akonadi_imap_resource_2 wasn't there. Maybe that's why I get the resourceId: 2 in the error message. I am not sure how to solve this. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Well I have to update my previous post. It seems this problem is solved.

After deleting ~/.local/share/akonadi and ~/.config/akonadi and starting akonadi again, I am able to start KMail and re-set my IMAP accounts. All I had to do was to wait for the IMAP folders to sync with the remote servers. I guess the first time around I did close KMail before this process ended. I don't know if this makes sense but it is what I think about it.

Hope it helps someone struggling with a similar problem
