How do I set up kmail (and gmail too, I guess) so that I can retrieve my gmail from within kmail? This question has been asked and answered many times, I know, but the answer keeps changing as gmail and kmail change. Does the answer differ according to which release of KDE I have? (I'm running Kubuntu 14.04 at the moment but I know I'll be forced to upgrade it soon.) I know that gmail is accepting the request because if I change the password gmail rejects it, but I don't know how to convince gmail to forward the message.

I too am struggling with this.

I normally use Ubuntu and Thunderbird, but thought I would give Kubuntu and Kontact a go as I've heard good things about them.

However I've tried numerous ways to access gmail via Kontact/Kmail but always end up with this error message: https://pasteboard.co/I3Ro2Gl.png.

Interestingly I am able to send mail from my gmail account via Kontact despite the linked error message, but not view any of the IMAP folders, nor download my inbox / new mail.
