Hallo,
one of the KDE4's killer feature for me was the ability to create a KCalendar ToDo item directly from KMail, with the message attached to the new ToDo. I'm now in the process of giving KDE5 a serious go for the first time and this feature doesn't seem to work quite the same (though almost). Using KMail 5.10.2 here, the ToDo does get created correctly and it does have the original mail message attached. However, on double clicking the attached file in KCalendar ToDo edit dialogue, it opens up in KWrite instead of in KMail, as I believe it should. The content of the file seems to be correct, though - the original message's source (which can even be saved and then opened up in KMail manually - and displaying the message properly). At first I thought it must be me doing something wrong (I'm running on LFS 8.4 so the sentiment was quite likely) so I tried Kubuntu 18.10 and to my surprise the result was exactly the same. Which would suggest the problem indeed lies on KDE's side and not on mine. Is there a way to restore the old behaviour? Or is this something still lacking from KDE5? Or perhaps even something that would warrant calling it a bug? Thanks. |

One (possibly fairly obvious) workaround exists and that is saving the attached file with an "mbox" extension and creating a file association to it of "kmail --view %u". Double clicking the file then opens up the file correctly in KMail. Certainly not ideal and hopefully just temporary but seems to work so far.

Using now version 5.10.3, the drag and drop functionality seems to be completely broken.
Drag a message from the Headers pane onto the To-Do List or Calendar icons creates a calendar item with a title like "akonadi:?item=8626&type=message/rfc822&parent=28", no subject, from or to fields, no attachment, no clickable links. I can't function without being able to manage my emails as to-dos. Not exaggerating, I will simply have to switch to another email program. |
