I hadn't opened kmail for a few days so its been hard to back track something I might have done. Although I've only installed a few minor packages since.

I'm getting the error:

kmail: relocation error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5WebEngineCore.so.5: symbol jpeg_crop_scanline version LIBJPEG_8.0 not defined in file libjpeg.so.8 with link time reference

The only thing semi-major thing I did recently was install the kvantum theme-engine so I removed that. Still got the same error.

I've tried reinstalling kmail, removing/purging/reinstalling kmail, reinstalling qt/plasma, reinstalling libjpeg. no luck.

any suggestions?

working. I had installed the appleseed renderer, which came with its own libjpeg. it was causing the problem.
