This is a similar problem to what others are seeing, though not quite the same.

(P.S. ignore the "19.04" prompt; I forgot to change the shell prompt. This is 19.10)

Code: Select all
greenman@Crynfyd19.04 ~$ akonadictl start

I followed the instructions for "clean start after failed migration" but still get the same error.

I tried to teardown apparmor, but apparently that option has been removed:

Code: Select all
greenman@Crynfyd19.04 ~$ sudo service apparmor stop
greenman@Crynfyd19.04 ~$ sudo service apparmor teardown
Usage: /etc/init.d/apparmor {start|stop|restart|reload|force-reload|status}
greenman@Crynfyd19.04 ~$

I also tried converting from mysql to postgresql, but I get the same kind of error.

Further experiments:

I figured out how to get aa-complain, and I did aa-complain /usr/sbin/mysqld-akonadi and rebooted.
Then I deleted ~/.local/share/akonadi and ~/.config/akonadi
Then I tried akonadictl start .

Still no good:

Code: Select all
greenman@Crynfyd19.10 ~$ akonadictl start
Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)
greenman@Crynfyd19.10 ~$ org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Starting up the Akonadi Server...
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: database server stopped unexpectedly
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Database process exited unexpectedly during initial connection!
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: executable: "/usr/sbin/mysqld-akonadi"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: arguments: ("--defaults-file=/home/greenman/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf", "--datadir=/home/greenman/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/", "--socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/default/mysql.socket", "--pid-file=/run/user/1000/akonadi/default/mysql.pid")
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: stdout: ""
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: stderr: ""
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: exit code: 1
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: process error: "Unknown error"
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/run/user/1000/akonadi/default/mysql.socket' (2)'

org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Shutting down AkonadiServer...
org.kde.pim.akonadicontrol: Application '/usr/bin/akonadiserver' exited normally...

And this is what I found in /var/log/syslog:
