I had to move my Dovecot IMAP server to a different machine, and now KMail behaves weird.

It does not download e-mail any more.

In my IMAP server's logs I see:
Code: Select all
... dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts in 1 secs): user=<>, ...

I have tons of these lines in my log, several per second.

In KMail's accounts configuration dialog, the entry for my IMAP server has an "Offline" underneath it, but it flickers ever so briefly with a different, longer text that I have been unable to decipher.

All other mail clients (Roundcube webmail, K-9 mail on Android) work just well with this server.

Evidently KMail no longer sends my credentials to the server, but why? This account used work very well, I did not change the settings.

I removed the account from KMail and attempted to create a new one. This fails with:

Code: Select all
Could not convert value of setting 'AccountIdentity' to required type.

I find this error message quite enigmatic. What am I to do?

The server logs the same as above. BTW I can see other users of my IMAP server logging in and fetching mail without problems, and I can log into my own account with other MUAs as well.

edit: fixed typo
