Kmail 'akonadi PIM service is not operational'

Starting about a week ago when launching Kmail the GUI I get "The Akonadi personal information management service is not operational". Have tried reinstalling Akonadi and Kmail.

Hi!

I just moved from KMail to Thunderbird because of this, possibly very same issue. I just came to pop in on this forum to see in case someone has a similar problem.

See my thread on Arch Linux forums. There's a bit more information there, including a few mariadb crash backtraces.

I'm not sure if the problem actually resides in mariadb, Akonadi or kmail, but this makes me think a bug report would be in order (in Arch bugzilla?).
