I have just installed kMail under Kubuntu 20.04 LTS and would like to move over all my mail from an old machine, which runs 16.04 LTS. The problem is that I never succeeded in installing kMail on the old machine. My mail folders there are probably a mix of very old and more recent protocols. Basically, all I have is the file folders. What is the cleanest way to import everything? All my files are shared by nfs, in case there is a way to access the folders through the network in kMail on the new machine. Otherwise, I can copy files manually too. Here is what I have:

BTW I see a lot of complaints about akonadi, which, incidentally, is the reason I never managed to get kMail running on the old machine. If it would be better to switch to thunderbird, I will do so, but my question remains.
