TLS with Kmail issue

Fri Nov 25, 2022 12:42 am
Hi all,

A few days ago my ISP sent this notice:-

"Please note: From 7 November 2022 onwards we will no longer be supporting TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 for email. TLS 1.0 and 1.1 have been around for a long time and have become outdated. The security of TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 is significantly higher compared to the older versions making sending and receiving emails more secure."

Since then I cannot access my emails via Kmail. I have tried numerous settings in Kmail, but no luck.

I have also tried deleting and creating new accounts.

Kmail is reporting that the account is "Offline"... It complains about not being able to log onto the server.

I'm using Tumbleweed & Kmail 5.21.3.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanking you
Pedro

That's weird, SSL/TLS support should be provided by the system libraries (openssl/gnutls/nss), not Kmail.
And I'm sure Tumbleweed is modern enough to support at least TLS 1.2.

Sorry I can't point you to a fix :(

I think that is the problem - looking at it through Yast, I can only see openssl options for TLS V1.0, V1.1 & V3.0... :|

Thanks for your input richarson.
