What is the best way to use a google calendar with the the KDE 4 version of korganizer? I would really like two-way synchronization, not just downloading from google. So far I have heard that GCALDaemon can do it, but I am not sure if there might be an easier way now. There also seems to be a program called python-gdata, but I am not sure if korganizer can use it. There is also google-gadgets, but I am not sure if that provides any sort of interface for accessing google data. So does anyone know the best way to go about setting this up?

The best way would probably be through CalDAV, which would allow KOrganizer to do it directly. Unfortunately KOrganizer does not currently support CalDAV ( hopefully 4.3, thanks to the Akonadi OpenSync resource )
In the mean time, using GCALDaemon sounds like the best option. Plasma data sources are not accessible outside Plasma, and no Google Calendar gadget exists as far as I am aware. I believe there is a guide somewhere on the 'net for setting up KOrganizer with GCALDaemon.

I got it working using GCALDaemon. I hope they implement CalDav soon.

If you believe this issue to be solved, could you please add [SOLVED] to the start of the thread subject? Thanks in advance.
FYI: CalDav will be provided through the Akonadi OpenSync plugin, which couldn't be shipped with KDE 4.2 because the final API for the next series of OpenSync releases has not yet been finalized. The required version of OpenSync 0.40 should be shipped sometime between 4.2 and 4.3.

There is also kresourcewcap (http://sourceforge.net/projects/kresourcewcap) - in theory it permits korganizer to use a WCAP based calendar (includes Google). Sadly it barfed on my cpp (Kubuntu/Mint) so I cannot report on how well it works. Cheers Jas |
