After upgrading to KDE 4.2RC1, I'm getting the following crash when trying to open two different mailboxes. One is my inbox:
When running kmail from the command line: laura@earth:~$ kmail kmail(10655) KWallet::Wallet::openWallet: Pass a valid window to KWallet::Wallet::openWallet(). kmail(10655) Sonnet::Loader::loadPlugin: Successfully loaded plugin: "kspell_hspell.desktop" kmail(10655) Sonnet::Loader::loadPlugin: Successfully loaded plugin: "kspell_enchant.desktop" kmail(10655) KWallet::Wallet::openWallet: Pass a valid window to KWallet::Wallet::openWallet(). laura@earth:~$ kmail(10655) KSharedUiServerProxy::KSharedUiServerProxy: kuiserver registered kmail(10655) ::UrlHandler::UrlHandler: UrlHandler() (iCalendar) *** KMail got signal 11 (Crashing) KCrash: Application 'kmail' crashing... sock_file=/home/laura/.kde/socket-earth/kdeinit4__0 The useless traceback is as follows:

Still haven't checked the bug reports, but this is either related to the Cyrus IMAP server ( Kolab ) that I am using, or a specific email message.
The work around I have employed is to use a web interface to the affected mail folders, move the first 40 or so messages to a temp directory. Then I can load Kmail and it will work just fine, I can even go into the temp directory through kmail and move the messages back to the original directory without any crash. |

Please install debugging packages as needed from your distribution and generate a full backtrace. This will allow developers to find and fix the problem, once a bug is filed.

As kmail belongs to kdepim, the debugging package you need is:

Ok, I now have the debug packages in place. If this happens again, I should be able to get a good traceback.

Got the crash again on one regular email folder and one shared folder. I trust that I have all the correct debug packages installed for my system:

After a quick poke around kdebugs, I think this one is the bug I am seeing:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179765 It says it was fixed after RC1, which is what I am currently running. Since I don't use kde svn, I can't confirm whether or not the problem is solved until I get the new version. |
