Hi,
I would like to see exported the "categories" field of my contacts resource in KAddressBook. I use: File -> Export -> vCard 2.1: - All contacts * Private fields * Bussiness fields * Other fields Any help? Cheers. |

Do you really need vCard 2.1?
vCard 3.0 has been standard for years, most applications should be able to handle it. Cheers, _

I see.
Which version of KDE are you using? Cheers, _

Hi,
Is there any place where I could select the fields (X- fields) to export to vcard? I imagine the "categories" of the contacts could be exported as a X-CATEGORIES field... Cheers |

I will have to check this later on my 3.5.10 system, but I am not sure how configurable the vcard 2.1 export is.
I think the most configurable export is the one for CSV. Cheers, _

Hi,
Well, the thing is that I need a vCard 2.1 export. Would you know of an easy way to pass from csv to vCard to work around the "poor" configurability of the vCard export? |

I just checked the code and Categories are an explicit v3.0 feature at export. My guess is that this field has not been part of the 2.1 specification.
How does your device save categories to its files? Cheers, _

As a special X-GROUP line:
being "Friends", the name of the group. Do you think it is possible to export to v3 and then parse the file to conform to v2.1? Cheers |

That could be possible.
Basically will need charset=utf-8 for all fields with strings since this is V3 default. Cheers, _

And that's all?
I'll try then: - Export to v3 (selecting 'categories') - Ensure UTF-8 in every text field - Treat the file as if it was v2.1 Thanks |

My guess is that there is more. This is just one specific difference that I remember. Cheers, _
