The kmail mail client that comes with kde 4.2 (version 1.11.0) is giving me some trouble.
First of all I did not like the new layout for the message list window. I think that the search bar + config buttons that appear on top of the window list takes up space from the list itself and I was not able to get rid of it, because I don't want it available all the time. Perhaps it should be treated as a toolbar. After trying around with the several config options, I finally found what I was looking for... a way to revert to the usual kmail layout. That's the Classic Theme, that can be selected on the rightmost button. However, when I was finally able to get rid of all unnecessary (for me, at least) aggregation options, and selected the Message sort order by Date/Time, as I always do, I noticed that the Message sort direction will be set for ALL folders. I like to use distinct sort directions for different folders, but it seems that this new version of kmail does not have such flexibility. Does anyone know if this is possible at all? Besides that, the font sizes are fixed on the message list window. I was not able to reduce the font sizes from 10 pt to 8 pt as I want them to be. Seems like a bug to me... Moreover, on all folders except on the sent-mail, I like to see the Receiver column. On the sent-mail, I like to see the Sender column instead. On this new version of kmail, it seems that all folders must share the same column layout. It get even worse; when I tried to configure the Classic Theme I manage to delete both the Receiver and Sender columns and now I'm not able to get them back! Seems like another bug to me... Anyone out there had the same troubles with kmail? __________________ Rudi Gaelzer Registered Linux user # 153741 |

For me font size changes kicked in only after KMail restart.

For the font size problem -> please file a bug at bugs.kde.org
I think there is a setting somewhere for the sorting setting, and column selection ( force global or something ). Otherwise please file a feature request. Regarding deleting the columns -> please file a bug. These are all related to the very brand new, with many features added / bugs fixed, completely rewritten Message List view, which was added in KDE 4.2
