Whenever I try to send a mail, or respond to one, my mails stick in the outbox, also when I click on : "send queued messages, nothing happens. I googled quite a bit on it and checked all the settings, but I can't find an answer. I'm using Slackware 12.2,(kernel 2.6.27.7-smp) KDE 3.5.10 and Kmail version 1.9.10.

Try watching ~/.xsession-errors when you try to send a mail. You might see a message in there that gives you some clues. |

A whole bunch of (vague) errors but none referring to Kmail. Thanks anyway

Ensure that the Sending ( SMTP ) server is configured correctly in KMail and the server itself is operational.

Ensure that no KMail instances are running, then run KMail from Konsole.
And paste the output here ( please remove sensitive details )

Is anything added to that when your mailbox is checked / messages are sent?

Nope, nothing at all. I'm a quit experienced linux/slackware user, but this problem is really mind blowing to me.

Ok lets try with a fresh configuration, close KMail then backup your data:
Now lets remove KMail's configuration and data:
You will have to reconfigure KMail and all your mail will be missing ( step 1 will have preserved it ), but afterwards try sending a mail. Once you have this information, you will probably want to restore KMail to how it was:

Try to define id and password in Advanced tab of SMTP settings of Configure Kmail...
It seams to be necessary to write whole address of email as ID and password for gmail and user id and password for pop3 mail account... It worked for me... |
