Kmail's Address Book

Mon Feb 23, 2009 2:11 pm
I recently switched from Mepis 6.0 to Mepis 7.0. When I first ran the Mepis 6.0 version of Kmail, the Address Book was immediately available. I have installed Mepis 7.0, and Kmail’s Address Book seems to be nonexistent. I click on the Tools menu’s AddressBook option, and nothing happens—no message, no Address Book, nothing. My first thought was that a needed package was not installed; so I ran apt-cache and printed out the dependencies—all 34 of them. All 34 are installed; so that does not seem to be the problem. I am running Kmail’s version 1.9.7 under KDE version 3.5.8. Any thoughts you may have as to the problem’s source will be appreciated.

What does

ls ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc

come up with?

Using the -al options, it shows the following:

drwx------ 3 bb users 4096 2009-02-22 18:52 .
drwxr-xr-x 28 bb users 4096 2009-02-22 09:58 ..
drwx------ 2 bb users 4096 2009-02-22 18:52 lock
-rw-r--r-- 1 bb users 0 2009-02-22 18:52 std.vcf
