Using KMail 1.11.0 and do NOT like the new "features." For example the bar that
separates mail by day, "yesterday, Monday, Tuesday, whatever. It complicates things
and I don't see it as an improvement.
Ditto, the "threading" (if that is what it is called) of messages a la the system used
at Gmail.

How do I turn these "features" off?

Those kind of toys I don't need, but what I do need is the proper handling of
HTML mail as that is the bunk of what I receive each and every day. Also the
only thing I ever liked about Opera's M2 e-mail client is it's "Unread" box. Once
you read the mail every bit of it goes into the "read" box and from there it can
be filtered, by a variety of methods, and automatically you can find mail just
from a certain individual by clicking on their name in the contact list.

So, what KMail needs, IMHO, is better handling of HTML mail, as in being able
to forward it in its original form, and an "Unread" box as described above.
The other "toys" don't add, IMHO, anything worthwhile to KMail (which, btw, I think
is, other than flaws mentioned above) the best e-mail client available.
Thanks.

Click on the fourth button right beside the Search lineedit. It is called Select Aggregation Mode and choose Flat Date View. Then you don't have any groups and threads. You will find many other options for customizing the view there.
