I have an e-mail account setup with inbox.com (web based e-mail). They have the option to forward e-mails to a conventional e-mail client using pop3 and send e-mails via a conventional e-mail client via smtp which I have setup and and had working for the last couple of years without a problem (I also do the same setup for Yahoo and gmail and they are working perfectly).
The problem I have is that since I upgraded to Mepis 8, kmail is not collecting all the e-mails from inbox.com. If I check the web intereface for inbox.com I can see the e-mails in my inbox, but kmail will collect them as and when it feels like it (it is set to collect every 15 minutes). Say for instance I can see 6 e-mails in my inbox via the web interface, kmail may only collect a couple of those. I have manually run mail collect on the inbox.com account and even though e-mails are there it won't download them. I have spoken to inbox.com tech support and have confirmed the settings I am using are correct. So I setup the Thunderbird e-mail client and entered all my inbox account details (having removed them from kmail) and that is happily downloading my e-mails from inbox without a problem. Now while Thunderbird is a good email client I prefer kmail as I have spamassassin and klam AV setup in conjunction with kmail and it is working quite well. So my question is where do I look for the problem in kmail?? Tim P.S. System details, Distro Mepis 8 (Debian Lenny base), KDE 3..5.10, Kmail 1.9.9

The only reason I can think of that is that kmail refuses to download mails that have already been downloaded/looked at/rejected OR you will find missing mails in your trash folder 'cos it thought they were spam.
You could of course delete ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail and ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc and start over configuring kmail to verify your findings/problems. HTH

Thanks Toad, you led me to the problem, I had two entries for inbox.com in ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail Deleted one shut kmail down and restarted and all is well. Tim |

If this problem is resolved, could you please mark this thread as solved? Thanks in advance. The "It's Solved" button will do this for you.
