Hi,

I'm using kmail since kde1, and still have most of the mails since that day.
In one of the kmail directories, i noticed that kmail no longer displays the message titles of the mails from 2006. In stead of showing [subject][sender][date], it is currently showing [no subject][unknown][unknown]

When i open such a mail, kmail first displays the complete header, and then the message body. Just like you would see when you open a message as text in an editor.
I moved around some of those mails to other directories within kmail to see if the program then would reread the headers and display the titles. But to no success.

Does anyone know how to solve this?
I'm currently using kmail of kde 4.2.1 and had this problem also in kde 4.1.
When i open a copy of the directory tree in kmail of 3.5.10, the same problem occurs.

Regards. Rinse

This sounds like the index is being corrupted, or an internal limit on time or number of emails has been reached within KMail. In the first case, creating a new Folder structure and copying the mails over should fix the problem. ( I would recommend taking a backup of $KDEHOME/share/apps/kmail/ beforehand )

thanks for your reply.
I'm going to look into this next week and post the results.

Well, it took a bit longer before i had the time to look into it :)

I looked up the folder in ~/mail, and it turned out to be a mbox-file. I moved it to my home directory and asked kmail to import it back to its folder structure. That worked, all headers are restored.
