Hi,
running kde 4.2.65 now akonadi fails to start:
Using akonadi-server 1.1.1 on Gentoo-box... Any idea?? BeDe |

Seems mysql has problems opening its database files.
It hints that this could be a result of some other mysql process having them locked. Check if you have some other mysqld instances running as this users and whether their command lines point to the same data files/directory. Cheers, _

No, there is no second connection.
A hint:
Maybe it brings it a little bit closer to the reason... |

Can you check whether you have more than one version of mysql (server and/or client library) installed?
Probably one from the distribution and one built from project's sources? Cheers, _

No, there's no other version than
Error report shows first error at step 9: "Akonadi control process not registered at D-Bus." Appel |

Did you solve it? I'm having the same issue on Arch.

I have the same issue on Arch too, I think this is a mysql issue but I can't fix it.

On Gentoo you might be hitting this one http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=267513

Facing the same problem in openSUSE11.1 running updated KDE4.3

That looks like a totally different problem.
Both check 8 and 9 succeed, which means initial start of the server succeeds. The control process crashes later on, which is not the same thing as the server crashing in the MySQL access code the other people are experiencing. Cheers, _
