Hello.
I'm having problems with akonadi and user quotas, because akonadi uses a lot of space on their home folders when users start kde sessions. They have a 200MB quota and sometimes akonadi is 140 MB Is it posible to disable akonadi or configure it to avoid this problem? thanks . |

Akonadi should not be starting unless the user is using applications involving PIM data ( Kopete, KMail, etc ). If any of these applications are being used, then unfortunately Akonadi is required. I do not know why Akonadi is taking up so much space however.
You could try removing the various Agents it automatically configures itself with, but this needs to be done on a user by user basis.

Akonadi is not yet required by the main applications, e.g. KAddressBook or KOrganizer.
It can be used by them through compatibility plugins, so we explicitly deactivated the automated change to those plugins for 4.2 since too many people experienced problems. One way to check is Systemsettings -> Advanced Tab -> KResoures, there should be no "Akonadi" plugin in either "Contacts" or "Calendar". Also check this FAQ entry: http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/PIM/Ak ... amework.3F The disk usage you encounter are primarily caused by the transaction log files of the MySQL daemon used by Akonadi server. I think they can be made smaller through the MySQL config, probably making things slower. Cheers, _
