So far I haven't really used Kontact and the associated apps much apart from kmail and the adressbook. Now I'm looking at starting to use the calendar-function to keep track of things, and I'm wondering whether or not it can sync with either Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones. I assume not, since I was unable to find anything searching the web, seems it only supports palm pilots. I know Evolution can do this, but I'd prefer to use KDE apps. If there's no such functionality, is support for mobiles planned for the future?

KitchenSync which uses OpenSync should be able to accomplish this. It was ready for KDE 4.2, but due to an unstable underlying library ( OpenSync ) it could not be released. It will be released alongside KDE 4.3, if the API stabilises.

I wouldn't count on that. The requirement for a stable OpenSync release still stands and AFAIK there has been not improvement in this area. Cheers, _

Well, recent discussions on de devel list showed it might take a few weeks, but it will be stable then. Most api changes are done and there is a list of the last api breakages which will be done in the upcoming weeks. So, the announcement said, opensync plugins can start now adapting the new api.
I don't know if it's too late to stabilze opensync, the opensync plugin and kitchensync, but there is a chance we can sync our devices in the near feature! More to read: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/foru ... sync-devel
