In an earlier post it was stated that all Kontact information was stored in .kde files. I have also read that there are compatability issues when upgrading from KDE 3.5 to KDE 4.2. Could someone please list the specific files to back up that hold the
1. Calendar information 2. Contact list 3. Distribution list(s) 4. Mail File folder and messages 5. Other data that needs to be backed up before upgrading or installing a new distro. Using export contacts and importing the same contacts does not generate a duplicate list of Kontact information. Calendar vcalendar export and import worked adequately. Thanks Michael |

The email will be stored in $(kde-config --localprefix)/share/apps/kmail/

That should work. At least it did for me.
Standard calendar file: .kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics Others depending on what you have configured
Standard addressbook file: .kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf Others depending on what you have configured
Standard distributionlist file: .kde/share/apps/kabc/distlist
PIM data wise the kmailrc and emailidentities files in .kde/share/config, probably the korganizerrc as well, .kde/share/config/kresources Actually creating a tar archive of the whole .kde directory might be the easiest way. Cheers, _
