during update of my Kubuntu 8.04 last friday all [Account #] tags where purged from my kmailrc file while leaving the [Transport #] tags untouched.:-@

Unfortunately I don't remember all passwords stored in it so I need the old kmailrc entries back badly. :-$

What the hell made the update removing these entries and is there any place I may find a backup of this file?

Unfortunately, I do not know if there is any backup system to this. You may wish to check for any alternate ~/.kde folders which may contain your configuration file. I do not know why your configuration was altered unfortunately.

Did you store the passwords in KWallet??

Even if you delete kmailrc the passwords should still be there.
