Hi,
one of the things which went wrong while I was upgrading from KDE3.5 to KDE4 (Kubuntu Jaunty) was the transition to Akonadi. So far I did not care so much, now I notice problems. The problem started that transition was stopped because something else on KDE crashed. So I integrated the Kaddressbook resource manually in Akonadi. I do not know exactly what I did, but the result was that I have more then one addressbooks in Kaddressbook: - dir Addressbuch (Original Kaddressbook resource) - Akondai Compitability Resource containing - Addressbuch - dir Addressbook The result is that I have 3 times the addressbook in my addressbook, but new address are only added to one of them. Right now my solution is that I have deselected "Akonadi" so that I can work properly. But the side effect e.g. seems to be that I can not create a new contact from within Kopete. What I thought the best would be: To remove all Akonadi settings and config and start the conversion automatically all over again. But I am not sure or rather "I want to be sure, because I do not want to loose any data." how to do this: - what are the files to delete - how to invoke Akonadi conversion process? Thanks for helping! Markum

The automated transition would have only create backend adapters for the old KDE resources. KAddressBook would have stayed unchanged.
Just remove the Akonadi resource from KAddressBook.
Selection of the Akonadi storage folder got rewritten for 4.3 The plugin in 4.2 wasn't as good as we hoped, which is why we disabled automated migrations for applications.
Strange.
While I wouldn't recommend that, you could do it this way: Systemsettings -> Advanced Tab -> Akonadi remove all resources Systemsettings -> Advanced Tab -> KDE Resources remove all Akonadi compatibility resources. Remove .kde/share/config/kres-migratorrc Start, e.g. KAddressBook. Or manually invoke
However, this will also create application plugins, e.g. the Akonadi compatibilty resource entry in KAddressBook, something the normal automated migration won't do (has been disabled for 4.2) Cheers, _ [/code]
