Hey,
I configured KMail to access my Gmail account. I chose the Disconnected IMAP account type. Now I can't understand the difference between subscriptions and local subscriptions. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks, Mike |

On subscription wour mail is stored only on the IMAP server. When you read messages, you are to be connected to server and read the messages directly from server.
On local subscriptions mail is cached on your local computer. So, if your connection goes down, you would be able to view you messages steal. When you press 'check for new mail' your cache is synchronized with server. I use local subscriptions, because my internet connection brreaks periodically, and the speed of reading messages is greater rather then online subscriptions.

But shouldn't cache disconnected imap in general? I mean that's the point about "disconnected", isnt it?

As I understand, the connected or disconnected IMAP account acts as a default setting for yout subscription type.
After you have created either connected or disconnected IMAP accound, you can subscribe folders both as 'subscription' and 'local subscription'.
