kmail saying connection broken.

Tue Jun 23, 2009 5:57 am
Recently my e mail account was moved from one server to another with exchange 2007. I am accessing mails via IMAP. After moving to new server I deleted all my data from kmail and re added the account.

Its able to login and detect the folders but its saying Connection was closed or timed out. But checking individual mail folders works. It correctly downloads mail.

I checked with thunderbird and its working fine. Please help.

Also all replies coming from this forum is going to gmail spam folder.

Does the error message dialog provide a "Extra information" checkbox? If so, try checking it and post the full details here.

Also, have you tried logging out and back in again?

Got the issue. It was with one particular imap folder. Had the it renamed and now its working. The error messages kmail was giving was no way helping to find the issue, I had to use thunderbird to see what's happening.

Is there any logging happening with kmail ?

The logging information was likely being dumped into ~/.xsession-errors since KMail uses KIO for IMAP, and all KIO slaves are started by KLauncher not the requesting application.
